Product Description
YAMA SAKURA coasters is made in Sotsukuchi-cho, Gifu Prefecture, known as the home of sacred trees and a thriving woodworking industry.
These coasters are made of durable, gentle, and beautifully grained mountain cherry wood. The beautiful curves and fine finishing show the high level of craftsmanship.
-Mountain Cherry
The wood has long been used to produce excellent lumber.
Sutechi-cho, Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture, is known as the home of the sacred tree for the Ise Jingu Shikinen Sengu (the annual relocation ceremony of the Ise Jingu Shrine).
It is made at Arai Sawmill, located in a mountain village rich in nature.
We purchase locally grown lumber in its raw state and carry out all processes until it becomes a product here.
Every tree is an important resource.
The lumber is considered from the lumbering stage so that it can be used without waste.
The hardwood mountain cherry tree does not produce any resin and has a beautiful bark.
It is hard and solid, making it resistant to scratches, and the more it is used, the more it develops a candy-colored appearance.
It is the perfect material for everyday tools.
