Product Description
About Tanaka Hashi-ten.
Tanaka Chopsticks values the phrase "Hashi Kaido" (Chopstick Road).
This phrase is derived from the historical "Saba Kaido" (Mackerel Road), which referred to the route used to transport mackerel from Obama to Kyoto. In the same spirit, "Hashi Kaido" expresses our hope that the path from Tanaka Chopsticks in Obama will continue to deliver chopsticks to people across Japan and the world.
This hope is something unique to Tanaka Chopsticks, which operates one of the few in-house factories in Obama, a region known as the birthplace of Wakasa-nuri chopsticks. We take pride in producing our chopsticks ourselves and delivering them responsibly to our customers. Every day, we are here at the starting point of "Hashi Kaido," crafting chopsticks.
At Tanaka Chopsticks, we have integrated efficient machine production into our manufacturing process. However, even with mechanization, delicate human adjustments are required for tasks such as mixing paint, selecting defective products, and maintaining machines. We see the machines as an extension of the craftsman’s tools.
We also continue to produce chopsticks using the traditional Wakasa-nuri technique, with our craftsmen infusing their passion into every piece they make daily.
